This is an advanced ab workout, if you are a beginning bodybuilder please see my website for some more appropriate ab workouts. Just a reminder, ab workouts do NOT remove fat. If you have a beer belly or love handles, you need to do cardio and have better nutrition – doing ab exercises will NOT help. Why do abs? Well, not only because a 6-pack looks really cool but strong abs are key for virtually every sport except tiddley winks. Ab strength is critical for hitting a baseball, whacking a golf ball, and especially in sports involving punching where most of the power in the punch comes from your core. Even if you dont do any sports, a strong core can protect your spine from injury. Now, people get really confused about ab workouts – do you do them once a week or every day? Do you do high reps or low reps? First lets clear the air, there is no “right” or “wrong” ab workout, it depends on your goals. The abs are like any other muscle, if you want them to get bigger and stronger, you work them out hard with heavy weight and give them plenty of rest between workouts to recover. If you want a small, flat waist like a marathon runner then you do a few minutes of abs everyday with no weight and high reps. If you want a really muscular core like a pro bodybuilder with big ab ridges and deep valleys, then workout with high weight and low rep and allow 5-7 days between workouts (morph zoom). Alles Klar? These 3 ab exercises can be performed in circuit fashion for an excellent abdominal workout that will work your abs really well and help burn belly fat without placing stress on your lower back. The first exercise is the ab wheel. To begin you want to put your knees on the ground and place your body in the upright position. Rollout, keeping your back straight, while squeezing your abs and then return to the starting position. Repeat. Next, you will immediately move on to stability ball jackknives. There are all sorts of variations of this exercise. For example, you can rest your elbows on a bench with your feet on a stability ball, placing your body in a plank-like position. In this case, you will brace your abs and tuckyour knees into your chest and then back out. To make this exercise even more difficult you can do one-leg stability ball jackknives. So, when one leg tucks in, the other kicks out. You may also want to try stability ball jackknives with a bit of rotation. This will involve bringing your knees to one side and then to the other. I like to get rid of about 2-3″ from my midsection. I tried all kinds the so called ” Ab exercises”. They do not work for me.
I think when you lose fat, you lose it proportionately from throughout the body. I don’t think that when you do ab exercise you lose fat just from the ab !

Answer by ChrisNeeds your 100% right you cant cause fat loss in specific areas it comes off anywhere as it wants to. if you want to lose weight around there dont do too many abdominal exercises as your just creating an extra half an inch form the abdominals, just try and eat less and burn the fat off your whole body and hope that 3″ come off
oh yea and for your sake ‘tone’ means nothing if anyone uses the word in their answer they havent got a clue what they are talking about and you shudnt listen to it. in ab questions you tend to get alot of ‘tone’ this or that it doesnt help as you may know
